DEVELOPMENT IN DUNTON GREEN – Local Plan 2025-09-16

SEVENOAKS DISTRICT LOCAL PLAN – DUNTON GREEN DEVELOPMENT SITES [16/09/25]

Documents are now available in the public domain relating to the authorisation of an anticipated consultation on the emerging Sevenoaks Local Plan. Dunton Green Parish Council has had no prior view of the plans and, like the public, only discovered late afternoon yesterday that there are new proposals for SIGNIFICANT development in Dunton Green.

There are 4 sites across Dunton Green within the latest documentation, the most contentious being SEV24 (HO/21/00012) ‘Land north of Sevenoaks, West of Otford Road’ which crosses the boundaries of three parishes (Dunton Green, Otford and Sevenoaks), with a suggestion that 1500 homes could be accommodated.

The other sites in Dunton Green include:
SEV11 (HO/21/00262) 6 Pounsley Road/Darenth Lane/and 20 London Road – 6 dwellings
SEV16 (HO/21/00204) Rye Cottage Rye Lane – 30 dwellings
SEV 29 (HO/21/00289) Land east of London Road – 250 dwellings

(SEV 29 is the only site that was in the last version of the Local Plan).

Currently there is very little additional site-specific detail, but it is anticipated that this information will become available during a consultation phase through October and November 2025.

This consultation phase will provide residents with an opportunity to submit their views.

The consultation is unlikely to start before mid/end October. When available, the Parish Council will issue updates on timings via its social media and website and will provide links to the information.

In the meantime, the Parish Council will be speaking with Laura Trott, MP and with district and county councillors. Dunton Green appears to have become a key strategic development area within the Local Plan, bearing a significant proportion of the proposed housing development for the district and its Green Belt is proposed to be wiped out.
